Clyde Roberts may be 102 years old, but he’s still actively hunting.
Now this is a cool story.
A Virginia hunter by the name of Clyde Roberts had a nice deer season this past fall. He shot a buck – an 8-point or so, judging by pictures – with his flintlock in November. A week later, using his .270-caliber rifle, he killed a mature doe.
Pretty nice, right?
It’s especially so in this case because Roberts is thought to be perhaps the oldestactive hunter in America.
He’s 102!
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries – which as an agency is younger than Roberts — wrote a blog post and did a video about him. They reveal he’s not just out there propped up waiting for deer to come by. He walks with a cane when in the woods, sometimes with his son at his elbow.
But – against his doctor’s advice – he still climbs 20 feet up into his tree stand each season. He credits “hard work” and “living for the Lord” as the keys to his longevity.
What a tale.
