Just what does that buck score?

Whitetailed_Deer 2What does your buck score? An online tool might offer answers.

There was a time in Pennsylvania when most hunters referred to their buck simply by the number of points it had and left it at that.

No more.

Now it’s all about the score, as in what will be the deer tally according to Boone & Crockett Club standards.

How to figure that out? Well, if you kill a buck and want to know how it stacks up, and want to share pictures of it with friends, there’s now a one-stop place for doing both.

Realtree has launched an online antler scoring tool.

According to the company, the tool – available here — “provides a handy step-by-step process with video tutorials for easily scoring your rack.”

Visitors to the site upload measurements taken from their buck’s rack. It requires details on the inside spread, length of abnormal points, length of main beam, length of points and specifics on antler mass.

Then, click the submit button.

“Once you get your score, you can share it directly to social media via Facebook with an automated image. You can also upload a photo of your buck for an image of the score superimposed directly on top of the photo,” the company said.

The tool is said to work on all devices, whether in the field, in camp or at home.

A printable score sheet is available for those who can’t, won’t or don’t want to both with the tech stuff.
