Tip of the week
Some believe – legendary angler Jimmy Houston has said it – that fish are capable of “flexible learning.” That means, after being caught on a certain bait, like a white spinnerbait, they can “remember” it for up to 90 days. Is that true? That’s hard to say, but it perhaps it’s a good idea to change up baits on familiar waters every now and again just in case.
Recipe of the week
Campfire chili and chips
Ingredients
- 16 ounces elbow macaroni
- 15 ounces canned chili
- 7 ounce corn chips
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
This is a fun recipe – kids enjoy it – that can be made at home or over the campfire.
Start by putting the macaroni in a 10- or 12-inch skillet with three cups water. Add salt, then cook on high for 10 minutes, or until most of the water is gone. Stir occasionally.
Add the chili and cook on low until everything is simmering. Remove from heat and top with the chips and cheese. Serve while still hot.
